One of the things that I have always wanted in my home is a fish aquarium. So a few years after I setup my independent household, we worked towards inducting one in our midst. Needless to say, initial days were quite an experience, with fishes dying inexplicably. With time, after a lot of research on the web, discussions with pet shop folks and friends, we seem to have hit a sweet spot through maintaining the aquarium ecosystem. 

Fishes are a delight to watch. In an aquarium, they provide a much needed dynamism in the household and has a calming effect by just its presence. We have had aquariums of various sizes over time, but have now settled for one that fits into a corner, with the front as an arc.

The fishes also have their own temperaments with some that play, some that are builders, some scavengers while others generally swim about effortlessly in this artificial habitat created for them.
